Remarks content

Charles Perry travelled to the Levant in 1739-1742. He travelled through France and Italy to Constantinople and thence to Egypt, Syria and the Holy Land. On his return voyage, he travelled from Alexandria to Athens via Rhodes, Kos, Leros, Patmos, Ikaria, Tinos and Kea, islands which he describes in this work. His book contains long sections on the Ottoman Empire and Egypt, as well as a detailed account of the antiquities of Athens.
