As a young nobleman in the service of King Otto, Ow-Felldorf had the opportunity to join the King, his retinue and 30 more people and travel extensively through Greece in 1838. He made a series of journeys through the Peloponnese, the then borders of northern Greece and Messolonghi. He was extremely interested in the archaeological remains of walls and fortifications he encountered throughout the country and his account includes detailed descriptions and drawings of their manner of construction. ow-Felldorf has penned two further works inspired by his sojourn in Greece: "Mesolonghi. Trauerspiel in vier Akten" (Innsbruck, 1860) and "Die Abstammung der Griechen und die Irrthümer und Täuschungen des Dr. P. Fallmerayer" (München, 1847)
